We had a great holiday season! So great...I didn't have time to blog! ha! We celebrated Thanksgiving with my side of the family and did something a little different this year. We all ( 30 something) met up at my Aunt Barbara's house and ate dinner together. It was really nice. We usually meet up for dessert, but I think I could get used to this. I LOVE family!!
After dinner we drove up to Jeremy's cousin's house in Solvang. It is a tradition for Jeremy's family to make abelskebers ( pretty sure I did not spell that correct) the day after Thanksgiving. I t was a really long drive and very difficult with Ashtyn because she slept the whole way ( 4 hours) so when we got there she was wide awake and it was 11pm. We had a fun day going into the Danish Town Solvang and spending time with Jeremy's cousins and family. Next time we will definitely leave earlier so we can avoid late night naps!
Before we knew it..it was December 1st and we had so much fun stuff planned! We have 7 birthdays in December, so there was a lot A LOT of celebrating! Tea parties, Christmas lights, parades, Christmas Parties...were just a few events attended during December. Jeremy's brothers and their families came out for Christmas this year from Texas. I love when they come out. It was so nice because most of them hadn't seen Ashtyn since she was a few months old. We had a great few weeks spending time with them.
Christmas Eve is spent at Jeremy's Parents house and it is such a magical time. I know I sound silly but I love Christmas Eve there. We actually start the day by going to Mimi's for breakfast. It is Josh and Jeremy's favorite and since it is their birthday, we celebrate them there! In the afternoon the rest of Jeremy's cousins, aunts, uncle, grandma come over. We eat Vince's spaghetti ( Jeremy's favorite) and open presents. There were 24 people spending the night this year at Tom and Judi's...OH MY! So much fun.
Christmas morning we opening presents and then rush over to my parents for more presents and breakfast with my family. I love this time! It is one of my most favorite days! After breakfast we get ready and head over to my Uncle and Aunts where the whole entire family ( 40 something) meets up for dinner. Dana and Mark are such great hosts and really did an amazing job. I felt like I was at a wedding! We then open presents and spend time talking, eating and just having fun!
Christmas was so much fun this year with Ashtyn and all the babies in our life. We have 4 new babies in the family all a month apart and I love it! I look forward to the next few years where Ashtyn can really enjoy and understand the true meaning of Christmas.
Oh and on a fun note...Jeremy and I had a surprise gift for our families. We gave it to them on Christmas Eve..but I will share more about that it another post.
